A little break never hurt nobody

Stay present.

Kristina Pittam ·

Last week I took a little break and did something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. A bucket list line item of sorts.

Sometimes what you need in order to level up isn’t actually doing more, it’s removing yourself completely from the depths of what you’re focused on and getting away.

Refresh. Reframe. Re-inspired.

I took a trip to the Dolomites. Being in nature, completely enveloped in the mountains, really does something to you. Whether you’re being intentional about it or not, the grandness of it all is humbling and gets you thinking.

As my friend put it, oh ya, nature forces you to clear your head. It doesn’t really matter if that’s what you’re looking for or not.

For me, it was a chance to step out of the daily grind of building my business and managing clients, and just allow myself (or more accurately, let nature force me) to be PRESENT. And if you thinking to yourself well, I struggle being present, let me tell you, 4–7 hour hikes a day will really do the trick.

I’ll share a full post on my Dolomites recommendations next week. But today I just wanted to share a friendly reminder that it is ok to TAKE A STEP BACK. It’s honestly necessary. Because when you come back and look at things from a zoomed out lens, you remember what it’s all about and what you’re doing it for.

Or even just getting clarity, getting inspired, letting the creative juices flow and coming back to yourself.

Because you hear it all the time: if you’re always in it with your head down, you can lose yourself a little, and that’s how you end up in burnout. And this is coming from someone who agrees with the POV that having your blinders on is a good thing, it lets you stay focused without worrying about distraction or competition. But blinders work best when you take them off every so often to check you’re still running in the right direction.

From a founder, and someone who honestly does take breaks to enjoy life as much as she can, this post is just your little reminder that YOU REALLY CAN DO IT ALL.
